About Us

The Plymouth Mayflower Chorus is more than just an amazing chorus. For some, it’s a musical escape from the stress and problems of everyday life; for others, it’s a place to socialize and meet interesting people while sharing the common bond of music. To many, it is a lifeline, a place to draw support and love from sisters in harmony.

We’re affiliated with Sweet Adelines International; a worldwide organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education, competition and performance.

We’re part of Sweet Adelines Quartet of Nations Region 31 and attend the annual convention where we compete against other chorus’ in our region.

Our Director and Assistant Director have director qualifications and lead the weekly rehearsals. In addition, each year we arrange special training workshops, where we employ the best vocal or performance coach to help us improve our technique. It’s a time for fun, friendship, and hard work.

Our last workshop (held at Seale Hayne in February 2016) was with Master Director David Sangster, the Musical Director of Forth Valley Chorus in Edinburgh, which he has led to success in Sweet Adelines Region 31 and in international competition. David also worked with us to great effect in February and November 2015.
